Checking In: Uprising Beach Resort, Fiji

Expat in Fiji, Oceania, Travel

I have a new favourite resort in Fiji! It’s called the Uprising Beach Resort, and is located just outside of Pacific Harbour, along Fiji’s famous coral coast line.

How to get here

Uprising Beach Resort is only an hour’s drive from Suva City. For me, living in Suva, this makes Uprising the perfect spot for either a weekend away, or a day trip. For tourists, the Uprising is a popular spot. If you’re looking to make friends while staying on the Coral Coast, this is the place to be.

All day there are buses that drive up and down the Queen’s Highway between Nadi and Suva. Any one of those will be able to make a drop off right out the front of the Uprising Beach Resort. Alternatively, you can organise an airport transfer with the resort or catch a taxi.

From the top of the driveway it’s about a 3 minute walk to the resort entrance. I first visited the Uprising Beach Resort in April 2016 with my parents. When we walked up the driveway, the gardener’s came happily running over to meet us and assist my parents with their bags. I’ve lived in Fiji for four months and I’m used to Fijians being very friendly, but this experience was beyond the usual. Sometimes you remember the little things from holidays and I know I will never forget these friendly gardeners!

Nothing beats an outdoor shower.

My absolute favourite was the beach front villa. The villa’s all have glass door windows, which means you can wake up to an uninterrupted, beautiful beach front view. There are really very few places in the world where you can wake up to such a great view, without first forking out your entire life’s savings. Just another reason to love Fiji!

Breakfast is included in your accommodation price.

This incredible swimming pool that is so beautiful it’s been featured on Tourism Fiji’s Instagram account more than once.

A packed schedule of daily activities and entertainment.

And of course, the coral coast itself.

Directly across from the Uprising Beach Resort is a beautiful mountainous island. I’ve tried 100 times to take photos of these islands but the picture never fully captures the view. There is only one way to experience it, and that’s to journey to Fiji and admire the view for yourself!

Day Trips!

This is another cool thing about Uprising. You don’t have to visit for a weekend, to head down. The resort restaurant and bar is open to non-guests. A few of my friends from Suva like to head down on Sunday afternoons to relax before the week begins again, have a few drinks and play a round of volleyball.

Thank-you to the very friendly staff team at Uprising Beach Resort for a memorable stay. I’m looking forward to when the rest of my family visits so that I can make it down a third time!

Very nice photos. Love Uprising Resort for its laid back feel. That mountainous island you can see from Uprising Resort is Beqa Island – also definitely worth a visit to the half a dozen island resorts there.
